To hear the official time of 1.59…..and the crowd drowns out the rest
Creating one world class team out of five world class teams, in sixteen weeks!
My father helped Sir Roger Bannister become the first man to run Sub 4 for the mile. I would love to help Eliud become the first man to run Sub 2 for the Marathon
Hugh Brasher was appointed Event Director of London Marathon Events (LME) in 2012 and was a member of the LME Board of Directors between 2007 and 2010. As well as the Virgin Money London Marathon, London Marathon Events organises Prudential RideLondon, The Vitality Big Half, the Vitality Westminster Mile and London 10,000, Children with Cancer UK Swim Serpentine and the Standard Chartered Great City Race.
Hugh's father Chris Brasher was a co-founder of the London Marathon (and pacer to Sir Roger Bannister in the first sub 4 minute mile). Hugh worked on the very first London Marathon in 1981. He has worked at every London Marathon since, except in 2005 when he was riding his motorbike from London to Cape Town. Prior to joining London Marathon Events, Hugh ran the Sweatshop retail chain which he built up from a single store to 43 stores nationwide before he sold the chain to Sports Direct. When Hugh has spare time he likes to spend it with his family or racing motorbikes, where he is a current European champion.
